Match packing to the product
Raw plate, cut blanks and pre-weathered architectural panels have different handling priorities. State the piece dimensions, finish expectations and visible faces before discussing protection. Agree package weights and lifting access with the receiving team. For finished panels, define any separators and surface protection with the supplier so the packing arrangement is compatible with the agreed finish.
Make receiving straightforward
Use consistent part numbers on the drawing, packing list and piece labels. Confirm how heat or batch identification is retained when a plate is cut into several items. Keep the required documents accessible and separate from easily damaged exterior labels. At receipt, check the package condition and material references, and record any discrepancy before the parts are moved into general storage.
Avoid unmanaged moisture exposure
Standing water, trapped moisture and contaminated storage conditions can affect surfaces. Agree storage instructions for the supplied finish, including separation from the ground and how water can drain and the material can dry. Do not assume that an architectural pre-weathered panel can be stacked wet without affecting its appearance. Follow the actual supplier’s handling guidance for any coating or temporary protection.
Coordinate the installation sequence
Review lifting, edge protection, visible-face orientation and the order in which panels will be installed. Protect neighboring finishes from construction runoff and surface contamination. Confirm how labels and temporary protection are removed without damaging the accepted finish. Include the final destination, unloading constraints and any special packing requirements in your inquiry. The quotation should identify the agreed packing scope and delivery basis rather than leave them to assumption.
